Ready to soak up the sun along the shores of the Deep South? Let’s begin our visit by…
1) Going For A Stroll On The Myrtle Beach Boardwalk
A new addition to the waterfront in Myrtle Beach is its highly attractive boardwalk. Despite its youth compared to its counterparts further north, it has already won critical acclaim from publications like National Geographic and Travel and Leisure. With restaurants, bars, and a gigantic Skywheel in its mid-section, and hotels and lush parkland along its northern and southern sections, this new promenade will prove to be a marvelous place to go for a leisurely walk at any time of the day.
2) Go Ziplining
If simply puttering about the boardwalk is too tame for your tastes, then get your adrenal glands pumping by tackling the zipline located just behind its central portion. Myrtle Beach Zipline Adventures has a setup that includes a line that will have you soaring along it for 600 exhilarating feet. If that isn’t enough for you, they also have a 60 foot free-fall tower that forces you to take a leap of faith that the cable you are attached to will ensure your safe landing; SPOILER ALERT: it will.
3) Live it up at Broadway on the Beach
After a long day of jumping off high objects, chances are you’ll want to throw back a few drinks to celebrate the widening of your comfort zone. The best place to do this is at Broadway on the Beach, where tonnes of well-loved restaurants and bars will cater to your hunger and thirst. From Planet Hollywood to Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville, and even Senor Frog’s for parties that carry on late into the evening, there is an establishment here that will meet the needs of your party ably.
4) Play some miniature golf
It might seem hokey, but Myrtle Beach is home to more miniature golf courses per capita than any other place in the entire world. Thus, it would be sacrilege to spend any significant time here and not get at least one round of putt-putt in. Two excellent options include Jurassic Golf, where you must deftly maneuver around dinos, and Shipwreck Island Adventure Golf, which will challenge you with a rare hazard with regards to min-golfers: water features.
5) Get out on the water!
While you might be having the time of your life at the previously mentioned attractions in Myrtle Beach, at some point the overbearing heat of the Deep South will drive you towards what brought you here in the first place: the refreshing waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
While merely splashing about in the tepid waters, which can reach north of 80 degrees Fahrenheit (more than 26 degrees Celsius) in the peak of the summer months, can be fun endeavour, make things a bit more interesting by renting a jet-ski, or by going parasailing or banana boat ride with your friends. Doing so will likely provide you with some of your best moments during your Myrtle Beach vacation!
